Former Fresno State quarterback Mikey Keene has announced his commitment to the University of Michigan for the 2025 season. Keene, who began his collegiate career at UCF before transferring to Fresno State, brings a wealth of experience to the Wolverines’ quarterback room.
During his tenure at Fresno State, Keene showcased his passing abilities, leading the Mountain West Conference in completion percentage over the past two seasons. In the 2024 season, he completed 277 of 393 pass attempts, accumulating 2,892 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. His performance was highlighted by a standout game against Purdue, where he threw for 366 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Bulldogs to a 39–35 victory.
Keene’s decision to join Michigan reunites him with offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, under whom he redshirted during his time at UCF. This prior familiarity with Lindsey’s offensive system is expected to facilitate a smoother transition and potentially provide Keene with an advantage in the competition for the starting quarterback position.
At Michigan, Keene will compete alongside returning starter Davis Warren, redshirt freshman Jadyn Davis, and highly touted incoming freshman Bryce Underwood, the nation’s No. 1 overall high school recruit. Keene’s experience and leadership are anticipated to be valuable assets in a quarterback room that blends seasoned players with emerging talent.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the move, Keene stated, “I am excited to join the Michigan Wolverines and don the iconic maize and blue. I look forward to contributing to the team’s success and competing at the highest level.”
Keene’s commitment comes as Michigan seeks to bolster its quarterback depth following a challenging 2024 season. His proven track record and familiarity with the offensive coordinator’s system position him as a strong candidate to make an immediate impact for the Wolverines in the upcoming season.
