BREAKING: FSU Land Major Commitment From Four-Star CB In Portal Tranfer Over Seven SEC Giant

Florida State University (FSU) has secured a significant commitment from four-star cornerback Gregory “Zae” Thomas, who chose the Seminoles over several Southeastern Conference (SEC) powerhouses, including Clemson, LSU, and Miami.

Thomas, a standout at American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida, is notable not only for his athletic prowess but also for his heritage; he is the first member of the Seminole Tribe to receive a football scholarship from FSU.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 185 pounds, Thomas is ranked No. 204 overall in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports. During his senior year, he recorded 43 tackles, showcasing his defensive capabilities. His commitment to FSU is seen as a significant boost to the Seminoles’ defensive lineup, especially given his versatility and tackling skills.

Thomas’s decision was influenced by his relationship with FSU’s defensive backs coach, Patrick Surtain Sr., who previously coached him at American Heritage. This existing rapport is expected to facilitate Thomas’s transition to collegiate football and enhance his development at the next level.

In addition to Thomas, FSU has recently secured commitments from other highly regarded defensive backs, including four-star cornerbacks Charles Lester III and Jamari Howard. These acquisitions reflect the program’s strategic focus on strengthening its secondary, aiming to compete at the highest levels in the upcoming seasons.

Thomas’s commitment is not only a testament to his individual talent but also signifies a deepening connection between FSU and the Seminole Tribe, adding a layer of cultural significance to his athletic journey. As the first member of the Seminole Tribe to receive a football scholarship from FSU, his presence on the team is expected to inspire and resonate with both the university community and the tribe.

Overall, the addition of Gregory “Zae” Thomas represents a pivotal moment for Florida State University’s football program, combining athletic excellence with cultural heritage, and setting the stage for a promising future in collegiate football.
