Florida State University (FSU) has secured a significant commitment from Kevin Wynn, a highly regarded four-star defensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class. Wynn chose the Seminoles over other prestigious programs, including Alabama, Michigan, and Oregon. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 325 pounds, Wynn is recognized for his formidable presence on the defensive line and is ranked among the top defensive linemen nationally.

 

Wynn’s decision to commit to FSU was influenced by the program’s longstanding interest and the familial atmosphere he experienced during his visits. He noted that FSU was the first to offer him a scholarship and the first college he visited, establishing a strong foundation in his recruitment. His official visit to Tallahassee further solidified his choice, as he felt a genuine connection with the coaching staff and players. Wynn emphasized the “family feel” and his comfort with FSU’s defensive scheme, particularly under the guidance of defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins, who has been with the program for over three decades.

 

Throughout his high school career at Greene County High School in Greensboro, Georgia, Wynn demonstrated exceptional talent. In his junior year, he recorded 70 tackles, 30 tackles for loss, and two sacks, showcasing his ability to disrupt offensive plays. His senior season was equally impressive, with 68 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and three blocked kicks. These performances earned him accolades, including the Defensive Player of the Year in Georgia’s Region 8 Single A Division 2 as a sophomore, and participation in the Navy All-American Bowl, where he continued to impress scouts and analysts.

 

Wynn’s commitment is a significant boost for FSU’s 2025 recruiting class, which has faced challenges following a 2-10 season. His decision to join the Seminoles, despite interest from other top-tier programs, underscores the resilience and appeal of FSU’s football program. Head coach Mike Norvell and his staff have expressed excitement about Wynn’s potential impact, highlighting his combination of size, strength, and quickness as key assets that will enhance the team’s defensive front.
