Notre Dame Report: Irrish Fighting Top-Ranked 2026 Defensive Lineman Damari Simeon React Two Strong Words To Marcus Freeman

Damari Simeon, a highly-touted defensive lineman from St. Augustine Prep in New Jersey, has included Notre Dame in his top 10 schools, alongside Duke, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, and Wisconsin. Simeon, standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 275 pounds, is ranked as the No. 46 overall player and the No. 3 defensive lineman nationally in the 2026 class by On3. citeturn0search1

Simeon has visited Notre Dame twice: first for the “Grill and Chill” event in July 2024, where he received a scholarship offer, and again for the game against Stanford in October 2024. Reflecting on his experiences, Simeon expressed admiration for the program, stating, “Notre Dame fits that perfectly,” highlighting the university’s blend of strong academics and football. citeturn0search1

Defensive line coach Al Washington has been instrumental in building a relationship with Simeon. Simeon appreciates Washington’s energy and coaching style, noting, “His mind’s like a book. He can teach you anything pretty much on the spot.” citeturn0search0

As he continues his recruitment process, Simeon plans to make a decision by June or July 2025. He aims to visit several schools, including a return trip to Notre Dame, to interact with current players and gain deeper insights into the programs. citeturn0search0

Notre Dame’s combination of academic excellence and football tradition has made a significant impression on Simeon, positioning the Fighting Irish as a strong contender in his recruitment.
