Notre Dame’s women’s basketball team has secured a major commitment from five-star forward Leah Macy, considered the No. 9 overall player in the 2025 class ¹. However, I couldn’t find any information confirming she’s the No. 1 player in America or that she chose Notre Dame over Alabama and Tennessee.

 

Macy, a 6-foot-3 power forward from Elizabethtown, Kentucky, averaged 24.9 points and 13.9 rebounds per game in her junior season. She had over 40 scholarship offers and ultimately chose Notre Dame over UConn, Louisville, and Kentucky ¹.

 

Notre Dame’s recruiting efforts have been impressive, with Macy being the fifth five-star recruit signed by Coach Niele Ivey in the last three recruiting classes. Macy joins current Irish players like Kate Koval, Cassandre Prosper, Hannah Hidalgo, and Emma Risch, all of whom were highly touted recruits ².

 

While Macy’s commitment is significant, it’s essential to note that the initial statement about her being the No. 1 player in America and choosing Notre Dame over Alabama and Tennessee couldn’t be verified.
