In the aftermath of LSU’s 58-65 defeat to Virginia Tech in Memorial Coliseum, Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey sent a strong and shocking message to Hokies head coach Kenny Brooks.

Mulkey, known for her straightforward and fiery personality, expressed her disappointment and frustration with the officiating crew’s performance during the game. While praising Brooks and his team for their resilience and determination, Mulkey emphasized that the outcome of the game was heavily influenced by the referees’ decisions.

“I’ve been coaching for a long time, and I’ve never seen anything like this,” Mulkey said in a post-game interview. “The officiating was atrocious, and it’s unacceptable. Kenny Brooks and his team deserved better, and so did we.”

Mulkey’s comments were not only directed at the officiating crew but also seemed to be a veiled message to Brooks, implying that the Hokies’ victory was tainted by the questionable calls.

When asked about Mulkey’s comments, Brooks responded diplomatically, choosing to focus on his team’s performance rather than engaging in a war of words.

“We respect Coach Mulkey and the LSU program,” Brooks said. “We’re just happy to have come out on top in a tough game. We’ll take the win and move on.”

The tension between Mulkey and Brooks is unlikely to dissipate soon, as both coaches are known for their competitiveness and passion. The matchup between LSU and Virginia Tech will undoubtedly be remembered for its intensity and drama, both on and off the court.

As the college basketball world continues to buzz about the controversy surrounding the game, one thing is clear: Kim Mulkey and Kenny Brooks will not forget this encounter anytime soon.
