Jordan Scott, a highly regarded four-star small forward from South Lakes High School in Reston, Virginia, has committed to Michigan State University (MSU) for the 2025-26 season. Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 185 pounds, Scott is ranked as the No. 52 overall prospect and the No. 9 small forward in the 2025 class by 247Sports.
Scott’s commitment to MSU marks a significant milestone in his basketball journey. He chose the Spartans over other notable programs, including Maryland and Virginia Tech. His decision came after an official visit to MSU during the weekend of October 5, 2024, where he experienced the university’s Midnight Madness and Izzone Campout events.
In his junior year at South Lakes High School, Scott averaged 18.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, earning him the Virginia Class 6 State Player of the Year award in 2024. He has also been a two-time Class 6 first-team all-state selection.
Scott’s basketball pedigree is notable. His mother, Christy Winters-Scott, played at the University of Maryland and is now a women’s college basketball analyst for ESPN and the Big Ten Network. His father, Jerome Scott Sr., was a multi-year starter at the University of Miami. Additionally, his sister, Brianna Scott, currently plays for the Georgetown Hoyas, and his brother, Jerome Scott Jr., previously played for West Virginia Wesleyan.
Michigan State’s head coach, Tom Izzo, expressed his enthusiasm about Scott’s commitment, highlighting his versatility and shooting ability. Izzo noted that Scott’s size and skill set make him a valuable addition to the team’s wing positions.
Scott’s commitment is the first for MSU’s 2025 recruiting class, setting a positive tone for the program’s future. His decision reflects his belief in MSU’s basketball culture and the opportunity to develop under Coach Izzo’s guidance. Scott’s versatility, shooting prowess, and basketball IQ are expected to make a significant impact on the Spartans’ roster in the coming seasons.
