FSU Women Basketball Land Five-Star Elite 2025 game changing recruit Committed to Seminoles Basketball in s Surprising Move

Florida State University’s women’s basketball program has secured a significant commitment from five-star guard Meleek Thomas for the 2025 recruiting class. Thomas, a 6-foot-4 standout from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is renowned for his exceptional athleticism, scoring versatility, and defensive prowess. His decision to join the Seminoles over other top programs such as Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee underscores the growing appeal and competitiveness of FSU’s basketball program.

Thomas’s commitment is part of a broader trend of high-caliber recruits choosing Florida State. In November 2024, the Seminoles announced the signing of junior college transfer Pania Davis, a 6-foot-6 forward from New Mexico Junior College. Originally from Perth, Australia, Davis was recognized as the No. 1-rated junior college player by the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report. Her impressive stats include averaging 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per game during the 2024 season.

Additionally, FSU secured a commitment from high school guard Mari Gerton from Princeton High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Gerton, known for her leadership and all-around skills, averaged 21.6 points, 3.1 assists, and 3 steals per game in her junior year. Her ability to impact both ends of the court makes her a valuable addition to the Seminoles’ roster.

These commitments reflect the program’s strategic focus on recruiting versatile and talented players to enhance its competitiveness in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The addition of Thomas, Davis, and Gerton is expected to bolster the team’s performance and contribute to its pursuit of excellence in the coming seasons.

Head coach Brooke Wyckoff has expressed enthusiasm about these new additions, highlighting their potential to make immediate impacts. The program’s success in attracting top-tier talent is a testament to its growing reputation and the promising direction in which it is headed.

As the Seminoles continue to build a formidable roster, fans and analysts alike are optimistic about the future of FSU women’s basketball. The recent recruiting successes signal a bright horizon for the team as they aim for higher achievements in the NCAA tournament and beyond.
