ZAGS Report: NBA NET Land Blockbuster Trade Deal with Former Gonzaga All-Time Leading Scorer Drew Timme Significantly Sealed Long-term Deal with Brooklyn

The Brooklyn Nets have officially signed forward Drew Timme to a multi-year contract, integrating the former Gonzaga standout into their NBA roster. Timme, 24, went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft despite a distinguished collegiate career as Gonzaga University’s all-time leading scorer. He began his professional journey with the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2023 NBA Summer League but was waived before the regular season commenced. Subsequently, Timme joined the Wisconsin Herd, the Bucks’ G League affiliate, where he averaged 9.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists over 12 games before a left foot fracture ended his season prematurely.

In October 2024, Timme briefly signed with the Sacramento Kings but was waived shortly thereafter, leading him to the Stockton Kings, Sacramento’s G League team. On December 30, 2024, the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s G League affiliate, acquired Timme in a three-team trade that sent guard Amari Bailey to the Iowa Wolves. This move aimed to bolster Long Island’s roster following a challenging start to their season.

Timme’s impact with Long Island was immediate and profound. Over 29 games, he posted impressive averages of 23.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. His standout performances earned him the G League’s Player of the Week honors for March 17-23, 2025.

The Nets’ decision to elevate Timme to their NBA roster aligns with their ongoing strategy to assess and develop talent from within their organization. As the season progresses, Brooklyn’s management, led by General Manager Sean Marks and Head Coach Jordi Fernandez, continues to evaluate the roster to chart a path for the team’s future. This includes leveraging high draft equity and making strategic decisions on player contracts and trades.

Timme’s addition provides the Nets with a versatile forward known for his scoring ability and court vision. His journey from an undrafted player to a key contributor in the G League, and now to the NBA, underscores his resilience and determination. Brooklyn fans will be eager to see how Timme’s skills translate to the NBA stage and what impact he can make as the Nets strive for success in the Eastern Conference.
