Top Recruit Caleb Anderson Flips from Louisiana to Michigan Football Committed to the Wolverines In a Major Win

Michigan’s football program has bolstered its secondary by securing a commitment from former Louisiana cornerback Caleb Anderson. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound defensive back officially joined the Wolverines on February 5, 2025, after a mid-January visit to Ann Arbor. citeturn0search2

Anderson’s decision to transfer to Michigan reunites him with defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan, who previously coached Anderson at Louisiana during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. This prior relationship is expected to facilitate a smooth transition into Michigan’s defensive schemes.

During his tenure with the Ragin’ Cajuns, Anderson demonstrated consistent performance. In the 2023 season, he appeared in 10 games, starting eight, and recorded 23 tackles, including one for loss, along with an interception. The following year, despite being limited by injuries, he contributed 18 tackles over nine games. His collegiate career totals include 58 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and two interceptions.

Anderson’s addition addresses a critical need for the Wolverines, especially following the departure of standout cornerbacks Will Johnson and Aamir Hall to the NFL. His experience and versatility are expected to provide valuable depth to a secondary featuring returning players like Jyaire Hill and Zeke Berry, as well as emerging talents such as Jo’Ziah Edmond and incoming freshman Shamari Earls.

Beyond his defensive capabilities, Anderson is anticipated to make significant contributions on special teams. His athleticism and coverage skills position him as a valuable asset in kick and punt coverage units, aligning with Michigan’s emphasis on excelling in all phases of the game.

As the Wolverines prepare for the upcoming season, Anderson’s integration into the team is eagerly anticipated. His leadership and playmaking abilities are expected to enhance both the defensive backfield and special teams units, reinforcing Michigan’s commitment to maintaining a formidable and dynamic defense.
