In a surprising turn of events, five-star tight end Brock Harris from Pine View High School in Utah has committed to Brigham Young University (BYU), choosing the Cougars over powerhouse programs such as Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, and Miami.
Harris, ranked among the top 50 national prospects in the 2026 class, has been a standout in the recruiting landscape. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 238 pounds, he is considered the third-best tight end prospect in his class, trailing only North Carolina’s Kendre Harrison and Georgia’s Kaiden Prothro.
BYU’s consistent engagement played a pivotal role in Harris’s decision. Having attended BYU camps since middle school, Harris developed strong relationships with the coaching staff, particularly tight ends coach Kevin Gilbride and head coach Kalani Sitake. During a visit to Provo for BYU’s win over Arizona, Harris noted the staff’s dedication, stating, “The atmosphere and the love that the staff showed me was awesome.”
Harris’s commitment is a significant milestone for BYU, reflecting the program’s upward trajectory. Following an impressive 11-2 season in 2024, BYU has been gaining traction in recruiting circles. Offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick mentioned that the team’s recent success has opened more doors in recruiting, indicating a positive trend for the program’s future.
This commitment underscores BYU’s ability to attract top-tier talent and signals a promising future for the Cougars as they continue to build a competitive roster.
