SEC Rival Transfer Five-Star Portal Tracker Jeremiah Alexander Commit FSU

In a surprising development, former Alabama linebacker Jeremiah Alexander has entered the NCAA transfer portal and is exploring new opportunities to revitalize his collegiate football career. A five-star recruit from the Class of 2022, Alexander was highly sought after for his exceptional skills as an edge rusher during his tenure at Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. Despite the high expectations, his time with the Crimson Tide was marked by limited playing time and position shifts, prompting his decision to seek a fresh start elsewhere.

During his three seasons at Alabama, Alexander’s on-field contributions were primarily confined to special teams. He redshirted in 2022, appearing in four games with a single tackle. In 2023, he transitioned to inside linebacker, recording three tackles over 14 games. The 2024 season saw him sidelined due to injury for the initial part, after which he returned to contribute five tackles across 10 games. In total, Alexander accumulated nine tackles over 28 games, a modest tally considering his high school accolades.

Upon entering the transfer portal on January 3, 2025, Alexander quickly became a target for several prominent programs seeking to bolster their defensive rosters. Auburn was among the first to express interest, hosting Alexander for a visit on January 4. The Tigers, under the leadership of head coach Hugh Freeze, are in the process of rebuilding and view Alexander’s versatility as a valuable asset for their defense.

Clemson has also emerged as a strong contender for Alexander’s services. Reports indicate that he is scheduled to visit the Tigers on January 7. Clemson’s defensive prowess and their prior recruitment of Alexander during his high school years make them a compelling option. Notably, Alexander’s former high school teammate, Peter Woods, is currently a defensive standout at Clemson, which could influence his decision.

Other programs, including Ole Miss and Oklahoma, have reportedly shown interest in Alexander, though specific visit dates have not been confirmed. The allure of adding a player with SEC experience and the potential to make an immediate impact is undoubtedly appealing to these teams.

Alexander’s versatility is a significant factor in his recruitment. Having played both inside and outside linebacker positions, as well as contributing as an edge rusher, he offers a multifaceted skill set that can adapt to various defensive schemes. This adaptability, combined with his experience in a competitive SEC environment, enhances his appeal to potential suitors.

As Alexander evaluates his options, factors such as immediate playing time, defensive schemes, and coaching philosophies will play pivotal roles in his decision-making process. With spring practices on the horizon, a timely decision will be crucial for him to integrate into a new program and begin preparations for the 2025 season.

In the broader context, Alexander’s transfer underscores the dynamic nature of college football’s transfer portal, which allows players to seek environments that better align with their athletic and personal aspirations. His journey serves as a testament to the opportunities available for athletes to redefine their careers and make impactful contributions at new institutions.

As the situation develops, the college football community will be keenly observing Alexander’s choices, anticipating the potential resurgence of a player once heralded as one of the nation’s top prospects.
