IU Sporting Director Scott Dolson Names Chris Holman as New Head Coach, Replacing Woodson

Indiana University (IU) has announced the appointment of Chris Holman as the new head coach of its men’s basketball program, succeeding Mike Woodson. This decision was confirmed by IU Athletic Director Scott Dolson, who expressed enthusiasm about Holman’s leadership and vision for the team.

Chris Holman brings a wealth of experience to IU, having previously served as the head coach at DePaul University. During his tenure at DePaul, Holman demonstrated a commitment to building a competitive program, leading the Blue Demons to several notable victories and fostering a culture of excellence. His coaching philosophy emphasizes player development, strategic game planning, and community engagement, aligning with IU’s values and aspirations for its basketball program.

In his new role at IU, Holman inherits a team with a rich history and a dedicated fan base. The Hoosiers have experienced periods of success and challenges in recent years, and Holman’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to revitalize the program and restore its prominence in collegiate basketball.

Scott Dolson, in his announcement, highlighted Holman’s track record of success and his ability to inspire and lead student-athletes. Dolson stated, “We are thrilled to welcome Chris Holman to the IU family. His leadership qualities and dedication to the sport make him the ideal choice to guide our men’s basketball program into the future.”

Holman’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for IU basketball, as the program seeks to build upon its storied legacy and achieve new heights. Fans and stakeholders are optimistic about the direction the team will take under his guidance, anticipating a renewed focus on competitiveness, sportsmanship, and academic excellence.

As Holman prepares to assume his duties, he has expressed gratitude for the opportunity and excitement about the challenges ahead. He remarked, “I am honored to be joining such a prestigious institution and am eager to work with the talented student-athletes at IU. Together, we will strive for excellence both on and off the court.”

The IU community eagerly awaits the upcoming season, hopeful that Holman’s leadership will usher in a new era of success and achievement for the men’s basketball program.
