Five-Star Linebacker C.J. Hicks Cancels Visit to Rival Program, Reaffirms Commitment to Ohio State Football

C.J. Hicks, the highly touted five-star linebacker from Archbishop Alter High School in Dayton, Ohio, has put Ohio State fans at ease by reaffirming his commitment to the Buckeyes. Known as one of the crown jewels of Ohio State’s recruiting class, Hicks has decided to cancel a planned visit to a rival program, further solidifying his loyalty to the Scarlet and Gray.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound linebacker, who is ranked among the top players in the nation, has been a steadfast Ohio State commit since May 2021. Dubbed “Captain Buckeye” by fans and recruiting analysts, Hicks has played a pivotal role in helping the Buckeyes secure one of the nation’s top recruiting classes. His leadership on and off the field has made him a linchpin for Ohio State’s future, as he not only attracts talent but embodies the team-first mentality that head coach Ryan Day emphasizes.

The news of Hicks canceling his visit to a rival program underscores his unwavering dedication to Ohio State. In a statement, Hicks expressed his excitement about joining the Buckeyes and contributing to their championship aspirations. “I’m 100% committed to Ohio State,” Hicks said. “This is home for me, and I can’t wait to get to work with my brothers.”

Hicks’ decision is a significant win for the Buckeyes, especially as rival programs attempt to lure away top talent in the ever-competitive recruiting landscape. His commitment also sends a clear message to other recruits about the culture and opportunities at Ohio State.

On the field, Hicks is a dynamic playmaker who combines elite athleticism with a high football IQ. His versatility allows him to excel in coverage, rush the passer, and defend the run. Off the field, his charisma and leadership make him a natural fit for the program’s culture.

Ohio State fans can now breathe a sigh of relief knowing that one of their top recruits remains firmly in the fold. Hicks’ loyalty and leadership will undoubtedly make a lasting impact on the program, both in the locker room and on the field, as the Buckeyes aim to compete for Big Ten and national championships in the coming years.
