In a strategic move to bolster their coaching staff, Notre Dame has officially announced the hiring of Ja’Juan Seider as the Associate Head Coach and Running Backs Coach. Seider transitions from Penn State, where he served as the Assistant Head Coach, Co-Offensive Coordinator, and Running Backs Coach. citeturn0search1

Head Coach Marcus Freeman expressed enthusiasm about the addition, stating, “Ja’Juan is a great offensive mind. He has coached multiple offensive positions, but his ability to recruit and develop high-level running backs is exceptional.” Freeman highlighted Seider’s success in utilizing multiple running backs effectively within an offense and developing NFL-caliber talent. citeturn0search1

During his seven-year tenure at Penn State, Seider was instrumental in mentoring standout running backs, including Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton. In the 2024 season, both Allen and Singleton surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark, a first in Penn State’s history. Seider’s recruiting prowess was also recognized, earning him the title of 247Sports Big Ten Recruiter of the Year in 2023. citeturn0search1

Seider’s coaching career spans nearly two decades, with roles at Marshall, West Virginia, and Florida, consistently developing players who advanced to professional ranks. His own playing career was notable, being named the MEAC Offensive Player of the Year in 1999 while at Florida A&M. citeturn0search1

At Notre Dame, Seider inherits a talented running back group, led by junior Jeremiyah Love. His appointment follows the departure of Deland McCullough, who left to join the Las Vegas Raiders as their Running Backs Coach. citeturn0search4

Seider’s multifaceted experience and proven track record in player development and recruitment are poised to make a significant impact on Notre Dame’s offensive strategy in the upcoming seasons.
