Neil Lennon reckons that Celtic already have two of the three pillars in place to secure “domestic dominance” over Rangers – as he urged the club to spend big this summer.
And with the guarantee of a Champions League jackpot next season, Chris Sutton has urged the club to flex their spending muscles this summer to “bury” their rivals hopes of claiming the Scottish Premiership. Brendan
Rodgers’ men lapped up their title celebrations as they saw off St Mirren at Celtic Park before the title party in Glasgow’s east end – while Philippe Clement’s men were involved in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Hearts to round off their campaign.
Both Glasgow giants have a double on their mind going into the Old Firm Scottish Cup final next weekend – with the Light Blues holding the League Cup while Celtic are champions of Scotland – but attention is already turning to the summer. Hoops’ legends Sutton and Lennon have demanded big moves in the market when the transfer window opens again
Speaking to Sky Sports, Sutton said: “It’s an exciting time. There’s still the unknown next season and the unknown is going into the Champions League. It’s copy and paste every
season – Celtic need to add to the squad, they need to strengthen and the recruitment has to be right. That is the aim, to see a Celtic team at Celtic Park go toe-to-toe with the big sides in European football but it’s not easy.”

Lennon would then lay out what he believes Celtic need to succeed – including a top manager like Brendan Rodgers and momentum from a title win. He said: “I think you’re looking at a long period of domestic dominance, whether it be cups but certainly for the title. The money is there.
“They’ve got the manager in place now who has had his full season and won the title. He’ll have the whole pre-season to work and get his players in. I think Celtic are going to go from strength to strength.”
Ex-striker Sutton concluded: “It’s a great opportunity to really bury Rangers. Let’s get it right. Winning the league and all the financial aspect that comes with that. Celtic fans will be looking at it and thinking this year was too close for comfort – let’s really kick on and leave them in the wake.”
