JUST NOW: We Lost Him Kentucky Beloved Star Gave UP Today

OL Isaac Sowells names top five

One of the Midwest’s top interior offensive linemen is down to five schools

Louisville (Ky.) Male offensive lineman Isaac Sowells Jr. has named a top five of Louisville, Kentucky, NC State, Miami, and South Carolina. He has official visits with the Gamecocks (May 31st), Wildcats (June 7th), Hurricanes (June 14th) and Wolfpack (June 21st). He will then commit on July 18th.

Here is the breakdown with each school:

Kentucky Wildcats:
Kentucky was an early offer for Sowells. He has been to campus several times since then including for a March unofficial.

“Coach Wolford is a different cat. He’s a really good recruiter. So is coach Marrow. Coach Stoops is a great coach. He really made me feel like it’s home,” he told 247Sports director of recruiting Tom Loy.

Louisville Cardinals:
Last March, the Cardinals became Sowells’ first Power Four offer. They had him on campus prior to that and have had him up several times since.

After his March unofficial, he told Cardinal Authority’s Michael McCammon, “I had an amazing time, was great to be back. The practice was well ran and very organized. Seeing all the new guys was different but that’s apart of college football now.”

Miami Hurricanes:
Sowells has already taken two unofficial visits with the Hurricanes and they’ve been to his school.

“Coach Mirabal came to see me, watched me work out and practice with the guys,” he told Inside the U’s Gaby Urrutia. “It was great just being able to see eyes on me since I didn’t get to go to camp with him. Him seeing how I work and how I bend and things like that was great. Keeping in constant contact with him and coach Cristobal ahead of my [official visit] later in June. Just keep on building on the connection that we’ve built so far.”

NC State Wolfpack:
He visited NC State for a game in September, in January and then again in March. They offered him last August.

“Coach Tujague texts me every single morning,” he said to Loy. “Motivational stuff just seeing how I’m doing. Just getting ready for the OV I’ll take. He’s just being a really great guy.”

South Carolina Gamecocks
The Gamecocks offered last summer, so they’ve been one of the earlier schools involved apart from the in-state schools.

“Coach Teasley is a really great guy. Coach Adkins too. Coach Shane Beamer, he texted me before the camp, and he said he wanted me to do good at the camp,” he said to Loy.

Sowells has been to campus for unofficials. He camped last June as well.

247Sports sees Sowells as a top five rising senior in Kentucky. After a good season in the fall, he has been a standout at several offseason events.
