The Los Angeles Lakers have played 80 games this season.

They have been the No. 9 seed for most of the campaign, and it’s only normal to see the fans getting frustrated.

However, coach Darvin Ham believes they have no right to be this mad.

Following their loss to the Golden State Warriors, Ham called the fans out, stating that it’s not the end of the world if they lose a game because this is a marathon (Via Daniel Starkand).

Within this answer from Darvin Ham:

“I’m tired of people living and dying with every single game we play. It’s ludicrous. Actually. Like, come

Notably, they’re reaching the final stretch of the marathon, as they only have two games left in the regular season.

The Lakers haven’t even secured a spot in the playoffs, as they’ll have to go through the Play-In Tournament, and they just lost to the Golden State Warriors, their upcoming rival.

This team hasn’t found any sort of consistency throughout the course of the season, and that was the same case last season.

The fans are starting to lose their patience with Coach Ham, and there aren’t many reasons to be encouraged about this team, even if they end up making the playoffs.

Coach Ham hasn’t been accountable for the team’s shortcomings this season, and even though he managed to survive some early-season turmoil and rumors, it would be hard to justify him keeping his job if the Lakers flame out early in the playoffs.

It might be a marathon and everything, but the Los Angeles Lakers are always expected to be leading the race, and it’s been a while since that happened.
